Washington Hospitality Association members, other small businesses and non-profits in Spokane Valley will be able to take advantage of The City of Spokane Valley CARES Act Grant Program which is designed to assist with economic challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. The application is available on August 24th—deadline to apply is September 4th.

The city allocated $829,498 in grants for small businesses and $411,640 for nonprofit organizations. Applicants must meet specific criteria; a lottery will be used to select those applicants who meet the requirements. Grants top out at $7,158 and will be distributed by October 31, 2020.

Applicants must meet Federal CARES Act requirements, disclose their expenses to date and estimated revenue lost in 2020 to demonstrate how the pandemic has impacted their organization between March 1 – October 31, 2020.

Additional eligibility criteria include:

  • Have 18 or fewer full-time equivalent employees as of March 1, 2020
  • For profit businesses must have a current Spokane Valley business license and be located within the City of Spokane Valley
  • Business can be a sole proprietor or independent contractor, provided the business requests funds for their primary source of income
  • Minimum annual budget/revenues of $10,000
